Fitchburg State Downs Women's Basketball, 67-44

Framingham, MA - Behind 15 points from junior forward Steph Payette (Townsend, MA), the Fitchburg State College women's basketball team cruised to a 67-44 win over the host Framingham State Rams in Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action tonight at Framingham's Athletic & Recreation Center.  With the win, the Falcons improve to 10-5 on the season and 3-1 in the MASCAC, while the Rams (4-10) are still in search of their first conference win of the season at 0-5 in MASCAC play.

The Falcons shot well from the floor for the game connecting on 46% of their offerings including shooting 36% from behind the arc, while the Rams shot 25% from the floor for the game.  Payette led three Falcons in double figures as she connected on 7 of 10 from the field and grabbed game-high nine rebounds.  Sophomore guard Michelle Ridge (Milton, MA) added 13 points on 4 of 8 from behind the arc and senior forward Diana Doyle (Springfield, MA) added 11 points, seven rebounds, and four steals.

The Rams were once again led by senior center Christina Bordini (Chelmsford, MA) who picked up a team-high 16 points and six rebounds.  Sophomore Taryn DiFillippo (Revere, MA) added six points on 2 of 4 from behind the arc and grabbed a team high eight boards.

Both teams return to action on Thursday as they continue MASCAC play with the Rams hosting Westfield State at 5:30 p.m., and the Falcons hosting MCLA also at 5:30 p.m.
