Softball Defeats Augsburg 7-5 and Keuka 6-1

Clermont, Fla. - The Framingham State University softball team recorded two more victories today defeating Augsburg 7-5 and Keuka 6-1 this afternoon at Legends Way Complex.  

THE BASICS: 

-Scores:  Framingham State 7, Augsburg 5 
Framingham State 6, Keuka 1 

- Records: Framingham State (8-2), Keuka (0-6)

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

Game 1: Framingham 7, Augsburg 5 

  • Augsburg staked themselves a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first, but the Rams countered with two in the top of the third on an RBI single from Brooke Grassia and a sacrifice fly from Abigail Behrikis. 

  • The Rams claimed the lead for good with three in the top of the fifth including an RBI single from Eliza Carignan and an RBI ground out from Gianna Paolino. 

  • The Rams added singles runs in the sixth and seventh and Augsburg plated two in the bottom of the seventh to reach the final score. 

  • Audrey Gauthier earned the victory in the circle going seven innings and allowing five runs, two earned, on 10 hits with 10 strikeouts. 

  • Grassia finished the game 3-for-4 at the plate with three runs scored, while Carignan went 2-for-4 with an RBI. 

Game 2: Framingham 6, Keuka 1 

  • Keuka got on the board in the top of the fourth on an RBI ground out cutting the lead to 4-1. 

  • The Rams tacked on a pair of insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI single from Ellie Etemad-Gilbertson and a throwing error on a failed pickoff attempt. 

  • Carignan finished the game 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI, while Sillings finished the game 2-for-3 with an RBI. 

  • Sydney Bednarz earned the victory in the circle going four innings allowing one earned run on three hits with five strikeouts, while Julianna Chisholm earned the save going three scoreless innings in relief.
