Softball Seeks Third Consecutive MASCAC Title; Enters Season as Preseason Favorite

Westfield, Mass.— After winning the regular season and tournament crowns in 2023, Framingham State has been picked by the conference coaches to repeat as the 2024 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Champions. 

The Rams ended the MASCAC regular season with a 13-1 mark to claim the 2023 title. The Rams went on to sweep through the conference tournament and win their second consecutive MASCAC Tournament Title and fifth in six seasons.  

The 2023 Rams finished with an overall record of 33-13 establishing new program records in wins (33), batting average (.334), RBIs (269), hits (411), home runs (26), runs (301) and on-base percentage (.416). 

The Rams return five all-conference honorees from 2023 led by reigning MASCAC Pitcher of the Year Ally Moran.  

Moran closed out the regular season leading the conference in several categories, including ERA (1.16) and wins (21), second in strikeouts (101), complete games (16), shutouts (4) and innings pitched (138.2). During last year's conference tournament, she eclipsed the 21 win mark which gave her the school record and the eighth most wins in DIII. 

Fellow first team All-MASCAC selections Brooke Grassia and Gwendolyn Carpenter return for the Rams. Grassia who is a two-time all-conference selection finished second in the conference with 59 hits and led the conference in runs scored (52) and triples (5) a year ago. Carpenter who is the Rams all-time leader in home runs and RBI finished in the top five in the league in most offensive categories including leading the league in home runs (8), second in RBI (47) and third in hits (57). 

Sophomore catcher Talia Duca and junior third baseman Makayla Rooney round out the Rams all-conference returners from last season.  

Sitting in second place in the poll is Worcester State with 41 points and Bridgewater State is third with 40 points. Coming in fourth with 35 points is Westfield State followed by Massachusetts Maritime who lands in fifth with 21 points. Landing in sixth is Fitchburg State with 20 points and rounding out the 2024 poll in seventh and eighth are Salem State and MCLA with 16 and seven points, respectively. 

The Rams are slated to host Hartford on March, 8th before heading down to THE Spring Games in Clermont, Florida for eight games starting on March, 17th.
