Moran Tabbed MASCAC Softball Pitcher of the Year as Softball Lands Seven on All-MASCAC Teams

Framingham, Mass. – Junior pitcher Ally Moran (Wilmington, Mass.) has been selected the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Pitcher of the Year as the Rams landed seven players on the 2023 MASCAC Softball All-Conference Teams.  

Joining Moran on the first team are sophomore second baseman Brooke Grassia (Danvers, Mass.), graduate shortstop Camille Desrochers (Westford, Mass.) and junior outfielder Gwendolyn Carpenter (Ashley Falls, Mass.). 

Sophomore third baseman Makayla Rooney (Peabody, Mass.), freshman designated player Talia Duca (Hudson, N.H.) and freshman outfielder Angelina Lynch (Taunton, Mass.) have been voted to the second team. 

Moran is a three-time All-MASCAC selection and was named tournament MVP of last week's MASCAC Tournament. Moran led the MASCAC in wins and ERA this after going 21-5 in the circle with a 1.16 ERA. Moran made 27 appearances with 16 complete games and 101 strikeouts in 138.2 innings of work. 

Grassia repeats as a first team All-MASCAC selection after compiling a .376 average this season including 56 hits including five doubles, five triples, a home run and 32 RBI. Grassia added 12 stolen bases and was caught just once. 

Desrochers is a five-time All-MASCAC selection and once again earned first team honors after her final season with the Rams. Desrochers batted .390 this season with 53 hits including 11 doubles, a triple, a home run and 34 RBI. Desrochers stole seven bases on the season and walked eighteen times. 

Carpenter led the Rams with a .406 average this season with 56 hits including 15 doubles and a new FSU single season record eight home runs. Carpenter drove in a team-high 45 RBI and stole six bases. 

Rooney earns all-conference honors after batting .386 with 51 hits including 10 doubles, a triple and 32 RBI in her first season with the Rams. Rooney added 10 stolen bases and was caught just once. 

Lynch earns all-conference honors after her rookie season which saw her hit .342 with 39 hits including nine doubles, four triples and four home runs. She added 22 RBI and nine stolen bases. 

Duca earned All-MASCAC honors for the first time after batting .303 with 33 hits including three doubles a triple and 26 RBI. 

The 2023 Rams won the MASCAC Regular Season and Tournament Titles and will face Salisbury in the NCAA Tournament this weekend.
