Carpenter, Moran Named Louisville Slugger/Wilson Division III National Player & Pitcher of the Week

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Gwendolyn Carpenter and Ally Moran gave Framingham State a sweep of the final 2023 Division III Louisville Slugger/NFCA Player and Wilson/NFCA Pitcher of the Week honors of the season on Tuesday.

Carpenter, a junior outfielder from Ashley Falls, Mass., hit .556 (5-for-9) for three Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) tournament contests with four runs, two doubles, two home runs and six runs batted in. The Rams captured the conference crown in style, winning all three games in five innings apiece. Framingham defeated Westfield State, 8-0, in the quarterfinals and Bridgewater State in the semis and final, 8-0 and 10-2, respectively. This is the second time Carpenter has earned this award, she was also recognizes in May of 2022 after leading the Rams to the 2022 MASCAC Title. 

Moran, meanwhile, was the MASCAC tournament most valuable player, after going 3-0 in the circle and allowing just one earned run over 15 innings. The junior Wilmington, Mass., native yielded nine hits all weekend, collecting two shutouts, walking two and fanning nine.

The 2023 Rams are currently 32-11 and were MASCAC Regular Season and Tournament Champions. The Rams will be making their second consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament opening up play with nationally top ranked Salisbury University on Thursday at 4:30pm.
