Fourth Seed Softball Advances to Championship Round of MASCAC Tournament with 7-4 Win over Worcester State
Bridgewater, Mass. - The fourth seed Framingham State University softball defeated second seed Worcester State University 7-4 today in an elimination game of the 2022 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Tournament at Alumni Park.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

After two scoreless innings, the Rams got on the board first in the top of the second on a two run single to left center from Gwendolyn Carpenter.

The Lancers cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI ground out from Ally Tocman.

The Lancers pushed three across in the bottom of the fifth taking a 4-2 which would hold until the top of the seventh.

The Rams pushed across five runs in their final at bat to come from behind for the victory. Brooke Grassia plated a pair of runs with a single and Carpenter pushed home two more with a triple. Ava Rodriguez capped the inning with an RBI single.

The Lancers threatened in the bottom of the inning, but Ally Moran recorded strikeout to end the game.

Moran earned the victory in the circle going four and two thirds, allowing four runs, two earned, on six hits.

Carpenter finished the day 2-for-3 at the plate with a run scored and four RBI, while Grassia finished the day 1-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored.

Camille Desrochers recorded a pair of hits and crossed the plate twice, while Morgan Poli added a hit and two runs scored.
UP NEXT:
With the victory, the Rams advance in the Tournament and will face Bridgewater State on Sunday at 11 a.m. in Bridgewater in the championship game. The Rams will have to defeated Bridgewater State twice on Sunday to win the tournament.
