Softball Drops 10 Inning Thriller in Game Two with Babson

Game 1: Babson 9, Framingham State 2 

• In the opener, the Beavers grabbed a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning. Molly Hennessy doubled and then scored on a double by Kate Karamouzis. Athena Hadjipanayis followed with an RBI single. 

• The Beavers extended the lead to 5-0 in the top of the fourth. Babson loaded the bases with no outs and after a strikeout, Lexi Morris doubled down the leftfield line scoring two and Audrey Labouliere added an RBI groundout. 

• The Rams got on the board in the bottom of the fourth. Shelby Roode and Mercedes Jimenez singled and Brooke Grassia followed with an RBI single. 

• A Karamouzis solo homer to lead off the top of the sixth pushed the lead to 6-1, but the Rams answered with a run in the bottom of the frame. Gwendolyn Carpenter and Roode singled back-to-back and Grassia once again came through with an RBI single to center. After a walk, the Rams had bases loaded and one out, but could not push across another run as Moira O'Reilly closed the inning with a pair of Ks. 

• Babson added three more in the top of the seventh to reach the final score. 

• O'Reilley earned the victory in the circle going six innings allowing two earned runs on seven hits with two walks and 14 strikeouts. 

• Emily Strezgowski took the loss in the circle for the Rams going three innings and allowing three earned runs on five hits. 

• Roode finished the game 3-for-4 at the plate for the Rams, while Grassia collected a pair of hits and drove in two. 

• The Beavers received three hits apiece from Karamouzis and Hennessy. 

Game 2: Babson 7, Framingham State 6 (10 Innings) 

• In game two, the Rams got on the board first in the bottom of the third inning on an RBI single from Carpenter. 

• The Beavers answered with a three-run home run to deep left from Hennessy in the top of the fourth to take a 3-1 lead. 

• The Rams received a two run homer from Camille Desrochers in the bottom of the seventh inning to tie the game and force extra innings. Abby Clark scored on the homer after walking earlier in the inning. 

• Both team pushed across runs in the eighth and ninth making the score 5-5 heading to the tenth. 

• In the top half of the inning, the Beavers sacrificed the runner over to third. Chloe Joslin followed with a bunt that the Rams elected to go for the runner at the plate. The runner was called safe in a close play giving the Beavers the lead. Joslin was able to advance to second on the play and stole third setting up a sacrifice fly from Abrianna Natoli giving the Beavers a 7-5 lead. 

• In the bottom half of the inning, a sacrifice fly from Carpenter moved the runner to third and Roode followed with an RBI single up the middle. That was as close as the Rams would get as Babson ended the game with a double play. 

• O'Reilly earned the game two victory in relief for Babson going three and two thirds allowing three unearned runs on three hits with six strikeouts. 

• Ally Moran took the loss for the Rams despite pitching 10 strong innings. Moran allowed seven runs, two earned, on 12 hits with five strikeouts. 

• Desrochers finished the game 4-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI, while Grassia finished the game with a pair of hits and an RBI. 

• Lexi Morris picked up four hits for Babson in the game, while Hennessy finished with three this and three RBI.
