Ward Earns MASCAC Softball Rookie of the Week
Framingham, Mass. – Sophomore pitcher Shannon Ward (Newport, R.I.) has been tabbed the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Rookie of the Week for the week ending April 25th.
Ward went 2-0 with a 1.40 ERA and 14 Ks in 10 innings of work in a 3-1 week for the Rams. She earned the win in both ends of the conference double header sweep of Fitchburg State. She pitched two innings in relief giving up two hits and one run and striking out three in game one before coming back to toss a complete game six-inning performance allowing just two hits and one earned run, striking out six in the Rams 12-4 win. Added two stellar innings in relief in game one on Saturday slamming the door on a 5-1 Rams win pitching a scoreless two innings and striking out five.
