Gunarathne, Marchant & Moody Named ECAC Division III New England All-Stars

Framingham, Mass. – Sophomore pitcher Kelsi Gunarathne (North Providence, RI), junior outfielder Dayna Marchant (East Bridgewater, Mass.) and freshman outfielder Mycala Moody (North Attleboro, Mass.) have been recognized with selection to 2017 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England All-Stars.      

Gunarathne has been previously recognized as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Pitcher of the Year as well as a first team all-conference selection and an All-Region selection by the NFCA after an outstanding sophomore season.   Gunarathne went 17-7 on the season establishing a new school record for wins in a season.  She led the MASCAC with a 1.56 ERA with 144 strikeouts in 166 innings of work. She recorded 21 complete games with a MASCAC-best seven shutouts.

Marchant, who was also a first team All-MASCAC selection and an NFCA All-Region selection, established a new FSU record for hits in a season with 62 during her junior campaign.  Marchant hit .422 with two doubles, five triples, nine RBI and 39 runs scored, while stealing 14 bases.

Earlier this spring, Moody was named the MASCAC Softball Rookie of the Year and a first team All-MASCAC selection after an outstanding rookie season.  Moody batted .348 on the year with two doubles, two triples and 12 RBI.  Moody scored 21 runs while stealing 10 bases with a .402 slugging percentage.

The 2017 Rams won a school record 31 games and captured both the MASCAC Regular Season and Tournament Titles while making just the program's second appearance in the NCAA Softball Tournament.
