Softball Earns Fifth Seed in MASCAC Tournament

Framingham, Mass.  – The Framingham State University softball team has earned the fifth seed in this week's Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Championship Tournament.

The Rams finished the 2014 conference slate with an 8-6 mark, tied with Salem State Universiy, and by virtue of the conference tiebreaker policy the Rams will be the fifth seed and the Vikings the fourth seed.  The Rams will journey to Salem State on Thursday, May 1st for a 4:30 p.m. single elimination game.  The winner will advance to the double elimination portion of the tournament and will travel to top seed Bridgewater State University on Friday.

The other first round match-up features sixth seed Fitchburg State University traveling to third seed Worcester State University on Thursday at 7 p.m. The winner of that game advances to face second seed MCLA on Friday.

The tournament will conclude over the weekend at top seed Bridgewater State. The winner of the MASCAC Tournament will receive the MASCAC's automatic bid to the 2014 NCAA Division III Softball Championships.
