Agostini, Ezold and Shea Earn All-MASCAC First Team Honors – Agostini Named Rookie of the Year

Buzzards Bay, Mass. – Framingham State University freshman outfielder Tiffany Agostini (Rehoboth, Mass.) has been tabbed as the 2012 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) softball Rookie of the Year as she and teammates junior second baseman Taylor Ezold (Westfield, Mass.) and senior Alyssa Shea (Lakeville, Mass.) have been named first team All-MASCAC in voting conducted by the conference's eight coaches and announced by the MASCAC this morning.    

Agostini, who had an outstanding freshman season earning her first all-conference recognition, batted .324 with seven doubles, two triples and 21 RBI in her rookie season.  She was 8-for-9 in stolen base attempts and committed just seven errors on the season.

Ezold, a second team selection a year ago, is among the conference leaders in hitting and led the Rams offense this season batting .411 with 51 hits which tied the FSU single season hit record.  Ezold, who recorded her 100th career hit this season, belted a team-best 12 doubles, two triples, four homeruns and drove in 27 runs.  Ezold was also outstanding in the field with a .964 fielding percentage on the year.

Shea earns her third All-MASCAC honors having been a first team selection in 2010 and a second team selection in 2011.  Shea played multiple positions for the Rams this season at first base and behind the plate.  She batted .359 with nine doubles, three triple and 23 RBI.  Shea recorded her 100th career base hit during her senior campaign and finished her career with 127 hits.

The Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, the nation's oldest Division III men's and women's playing conference, has a rich and storied tradition of competitive success while celebrating excellence in the classroom.  MASCAC member schools include Bridgewater State University, Fitchburg State University, Framingham State University, MCLA, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Salem State University, Westfield State University and Worcester State University.  Two other institutions, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and Plymouth State University, are affiliate members of the conference in the sport of men's ice hockey.
