Three Rams Named to All-MASCAC Softball Teams

Framingham, Mass. — The Framingham State College softball team placed three players on the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) All-conference softball team in voting conducted by the league’s eight head coaches.  Junior designated player Andrea DiTerlizzi (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and sophomore first baseman Alyssa Shea (Lakeville, Mass.) received first team honors, while senior outfielder Megan Dumas (Holden, Mass.) was the Rams lone second team selection.  Dumas and Shea earn all-conference honors for the first time, while DiTerlizzi, who was a second team selection in 2009, receives all-conference honors for the second time.

Shea was one of the Rams offensive leaders and most consistent hitters this season batting .330 for the year as she started all 36 games for the Rams.   She racked up 32 hits including six doubles to go along with 11 RBI.  Shea was also one of the Rams defensive leaders posting a .972 fielding percentage with only seven errors in 252 chances.

DiTerlizzi led the Rams at the plate and on the mound this season as she also posted a .330 average with two homeruns, 13 doubles, three triples and 12 RBI.  She also achieved an 8-6 mark in the circle with 50 strikeouts and an ERA of 3.45 in 99.1 innings of work.

Dumas, who is completing her final season with the Rams, batted .276 this season with three doubles, a triple and 15 RBI to go along with 10 stolen bases and two sacrifices.

The Rams finished the regular season 16-20 overall and posted a 9-5 mark in the MASCAC which placed them in a three way tie with Worcester State and Bridgewater State for third place.  By virtue of the tiebreaker system, the Rams are the fourth seed in the MASCAC Championships which begin on Thursday as they travel to top seed Westfield State. The double elimination tournament concludes over the weekend at Westfield State.
