Softball Splits Two With Plymouth State

Framingham, Mass. — The Framingham State College softball team won game one of a non-conference doubleheader this afternoon 10-7 over Plymouth State, before the Panthers won game two 6-2 to earn a split.  Framingham State improves to 12-16 on the year, while the Panthers are now 11-14. 

In game one Plymouth State scored six runs in the top of the third on an RBI singles by Kay Labrie (Somersworth, NH) and Andrea Pydynkowski (Danvers, Mass.) and a two run double by Allie Luisi (N. Kingstown, RI).

The Rams came back to take the lead for good with two runs in the bottom of the fourth on a sacrifice fly by freshman Kendra Fisher (Abington, Mass.) and an RBI single from Katie Donovan (Holden, Mass.).  The Rams added two more in the bottom of the fifth to extend their lead as Andrea DiTerlizzi (Shrewsbury, Mass.) tripled and scored on a wild pitch and Donovan tripled home shortstop Christy Ulak (Rehoboth, Mass.).

Framingham State added a single run in the sixth to extend the lead to 10-6.  Plymouth was able to push across a single run in the seventh on an RBI double by Kortney Nedeau (Kennebunk, ME) to reach the final score of 10-7.

Sophomore Alysia Morrissette (Ware, Mass.) picked up the win as she went four innings in relief allowing one run on two hits.  Ali Keith (Northfield, NH) picked up the loss for Plymouth.

Fisher went 2-for-3 in game one with two RBI, while Donovan went 4-for-4 with four RBI.  Luisi picked up two RBI in game one, while Amanda Salois (Rehoboth, Mass.) picked up a couple of hits.

In the second game, Plymouth State used a four run second inning to erase a 2-1 deficit and take the lead for good.  Diana Bean (Danvers, Mass.) picked up the win scattering seven hits in seven innings and allowing three runs, all earned, with four strike outs.  Luisi went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, and Alyssa Marini (Kingston, MH) picked up two RBI.

Sophomore Alyssa Shea (Lakeville, Mass.) picked up two hits and an RBI in game two, while Ulak went 1-for-4 with an RBI.  DiTerlizzi picked up four hits on the day with three triples and a double.

The Rams return to action on Saturday as they travel to Worcester State for a MASCAC doubleheader at noon, while the Panthers host Rhode Island College in a Little East Conference showdown at 1 p.m.
