Framingham, Mass. – Sophomore Ken Stahovish (Springfield, Mass.) tallied a pair of goals and an assist to lead the Framingham State University men's soccer team to a 5-1 victory over Salem State University in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Maple Street Field.

With the win, the Rams improve to 2-8 on the season and are now 3-2 in the conference, while the Vikings fall to 3-6-3 overall and 0-3-2 in the MASCAC.

The Rams staked themselves a 1-0 advantage in the 14th minute as junior Gerardo Ramirez (Burlington, Mass.) tallied his first marker of the year.  Stahovish took possession at the top of the box and laid a pass off to Ramirez on the left side, who finished in the low corner.

The Rams doubled their advantage in the 33rd minute of action.  Senior Jeff Braverman (Framingham, Mass.) fired the initial shot that was blocked by a Viking defender.  Sophomore Simon Appiah (Worcester, Mass.) corralled the loose ball and fed a pass to freshman Brian Reis (Keene, NH) who connected on his second of the season.

Salem State cut the Rams lead in half in the 60th minute as senior Kevin Gallo (Como, Italy) sent a direct kick into that box that classmate Mitch Tepe (Sterling, Mass.) deflected into the back of the net for his third of the season.

The Rams would tack on three more goals in a 20 minute span to reach the final margin.   Stahovish struck first in the 66th minute off a nice feed from Appiah and followed that up in the 71st minute with his sixth of the season off a long pass ahead from senior Mitch Osgood (Salem, Mass.).  Freshman Bryce Nardizzi (Framingham, Mass.) capped the scoring for the day with his first collegiate goal in the 85th minute.

The Rams outshot the Vikings 20-17 in the game, while the Vikings held a 2-1 edge in corner kicks.  Junior Josh Arno (Natick, Mass.) earned the win in net for the Rams making seven saves, while junior Greg Enos (Peabody, Mass.) took the loss for Salem while making four stops.

The Rams are back in action on Tuesday evening at home when they entertain Emerson at 7 p.m., while the Vikings travel to Connecticut College on Wednesday for a 3:30 p.m. game.
