Framingham, Mass. – Framingham State University junior Cory Cardeiro (Fall River, MA) scored twice and hit the game winner six minutes and fifty seven seconds into the first overtime to lead the Rams to a win on senior day over Westfield State. With the win the Rams improve to 4-11-2 and 3-3-1 in the conference and have clinched a spot in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) tournament. The Owls fall to 3-11-3 and 2-4-1 in the MASCAC.

The Owls jumped on the board first, at the 9:00 mark senior Nick Tavares (Ludlow, MA) chipped a shot over the head of the crashing Rams keeper. Sophomore Cody Baglow (Amherst, MA) was credited with an assist on the play.

Later in the first half the Rams answered when Cardeiro hit a one time shot into the back of the net off a long cross from senior Nick Cotter (Sandwich, MA).

Both teams played the next 55 minutes of regulation without a score. Both sides had chances to score but solid play by both keepers kept the match tied.

In the 96th minute of play the Rams were awarded a corner kick and senior Bryan DaSilva (Milford, MA) sent the kick across the front of the net and the ball was headed in the goal by Cardeiro.

Senior Billy Levitsky (Westford, MA) started on senior day for the Rams and gave way to sophomore Jacob Nichols (Sturbridge, MA) who played 96:47. Levitsky made one save, Nichols made 5 and allowed a goal. Senior Keith Hevey (Chicopee, MA) made 5 saves and allowed the two Ram goals in his 96:57 in net.

Both teams await results of other MASCAC action to determine final seeding for the MASCAC Tournament. The first round will be played Tuesday, November 4th.
