Framingham, Mass. - Reigning NEWMAC Rookie of the Year Matt Farrell (Groveland, MA) collected a pair of goals to lift WPI to a 3-0 non-conference men's soccer victory Saturday afternoon over host Framingham State.    The Engineers are now 3-0 on the season, the fourth straight year they have been unbeaten through three matches, while Framingham evens its mark at 1-1.

Farrell netted his first goal of the year just 7:45 in when he banged home a pass from Eric Crevoiserat (Glastonbury, CT) to put the Crimson and Gray up 1-0.  WPI took a 2-0 advantage into the intermission after Tynan MacLeod (Groton, MA) buried a feed from rookie Brendan Nemes (Kingston, MA) 32:04.  The Engineers grabbed some insurance early in the second stanza when Farrell took advantage of a deflected ball and tallied his 10th career goal at 48:17.

Freshman Connor Hoeckele (Granby, CT) recorded four stops en route to his second shutout in as many outings while Jacob Nichols (Sturbridge, MA) made eight saves for the Rams.  For the day, WPI outshot the Rams 16-10 and enjoyed a slight 9-7 edge in corner kicks.

WPI plays its fourth straight game away from home to open on Wednesday at 6pm at Rhode Island College.  Framingham closes out a three-game homestand Tuesday versus Daniel Webster at 4pm.
