Framingham, Mass. – Junior Bryan DaSilva (Milford, Mass.) converted a penalty kick in the 81st minute to lift the Framingham State University men's soccer team to a 1-0 non-conference victory over Keene State on Wednesday at Maple Street Field.

DaSilva's shot went to the right of the keeper for his first tally of the year at 80:33. Junior Pat Anthony (Southampton, Mass.) had the only Keene State chance to net an equalizer but junior goalkeeper Kiko Anzoategui (Peabody, Mass.) made the stop in the 84th minute. Earlier in the frame, Anthony notched a team save for the Owls as he halted a shot by freshman Gui Chaves (Framingham, Mass.) in the 71st minute.

The Rams looked to light up the scoreboard early as junior Nicholas Cotter's (Sandwich, Mass.) one-timer went high at 2:30 and freshman Gil Mendes' (Framingham, Mass.) close range shot at 4:40 was denied by junior netminder Mike Ketterman (Monson, Mass.). Rookie Matt Povall (Poughquag, N.Y.) looked to finish off a free kick but was stopped by Anzoategui in the 12th minute. At the 20:16 mark, Keene State senior Scott Douglas' (East Greenwich, RI) laser was saved by senior Ryan Boughter (Rockland, Mass.). Anzogateui made a spectacular diving save in the 35th minute to keep the game scoreless heading into the break. Keene State held an 8-5 advantage in shots and a 3-1 margin in corner kicks through the first 45 minutes of action.

Anzoategui (2-5) stopped a game-best five shots while Ketterman (1-2) turned away a three for the guests. The Owls finished the game with a 14-13 edge in shots and a 6-4 differential in corner kicks.

Both teams return to conference action on Saturday. Framingham State (4-10) welcomes Fitchburg State for a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) match at 12 p.m. while Keene State (4-9) travels to UMass–Boston for a 1 p.m. Little East Conference (LEC) tilt.
