Men’s Soccer Falls in Home Opener to UMass Dartmouth

Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State University men's soccer team suffered a 4-0 setback this afternoon at the hands of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in the Rams home opener at Maple Street Field.   

The Rams are still in search of their first victory of the season as they slip to 0-5, while the Corsairs improve to 3-1 with win.

The Corsairs received two goals apiece form senior Victory Ferreira (St. Michael, Portugal) and junior Josh Chao (New Bedford, Mass.).  Ferreira opened the scoring with a goal off an assist from Aelaf Solomon (Framingham, Mass.) in the 32nd minute and Chao followed with his two. Choa tallied first just before the intermission off a feed from Jordan Sindo (New Bedford, Mass.).  Choa and Ferreira finished off the scoring in the second half with unassisted tallies.

Freshman Luis Carranza (New Bedford, Mass.) and classmate Andrew Deane (Woburn, Mass.) combined for the shutout in net for the visitors making three stops apiece.  Junior Billy Levitsky (Westford, Mass.) picked up the loss in net for the Rams making five saves and surrendering two goals, while freshman Jacob Nichols (Sturbridge, Mass.) came on in relief surrendering two goals with five stops.

The Rams are back in action on Wednesday for a non-conference game against Western New England beginning at 4 p.m., while the Corsairs travel to Salve Regina on Tuesday for a 4:30 p.m. contest.
