Men's Soccer Opens Season with 4-0 Loss at Gordon

Wenham, Mass. – The Framingham State University men's soccer team opened up the 2013 season this evening and suffered a 4-0 shutout loss on the road against Gordon College at the Brigham Complex.

The Rams (0-1) and the Fighting Scots (1-0) have met to open the last two seasons which each of those games finishing in a double overtime draw.

The Fighting Scots wasted little time getting on the board as Andrew Vandervoort tallied the unassisted game winner just ten seconds into the game.

Gordon would close the first half with three markers in the final eight minutes on Framingham State goalkeeper William Levitsky (Westford, Mass.) to put the game out of reach.  Kellen Kasiguran tallied unassisted at the 38 minute mark and Colten Cory scored off a Gaines Minton helper at 41:40.  Just over a minute later Daniel Perez scored the game's final goal, unassisted.

Levitsky was tagged with the loss in net for the Rams working a half and making six saves while surrendering the four goals, junior Kiko Anzoategui (Peabody, Mass.) came on for the second half in goal making three saves. For the Fighting Scots, who outshot the Rams 20-4 in the game, Tim Hardy and Josh Spoonhour combined to make three saves and record the shutout.

The Rams return to action on Wednesday afternoon when they travel to Wesleyan for a non-conference match up beginning at 4:30 p.m.
