Late Goal Lifts Men's Soccer to 1-0 Double Overtime Victory over MCLA

North Adams, Mass. – Junior Ryan Boughter (Rockland, Mass.) scored with 31 seconds remaining in the second overtime to propel the Framingham State University men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over MCLA in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action this afternoon.

With the win, the Rams improve to 3-4-2 overall and 2-1 in the MASCAC, while the Trailblazers fall to 3-6 on the year and 1-2 MASCAC.

Boughter headed home a free kick off the foot of sophomore Mark Bamford (Ludlow, Mass.) for the game winner which wrapped up a frantic final ninety seconds.

A physical affair was ramped up in OT.  MCLA played a man down for the extra time and Framingham looked to capitalize following an MCLA foul in the box that resulted in a penalty kick with just 1:34 remaining in double overtime.

Trailblazer keeper Dillon Wager guessed correctly, making a highlight reel save off the attempt from sophomore Bryan DaSilva (Milford, Mass.).  Wager also stopped the rebound and the game appeared headed to a draw.  Following another MCLA foul near midfield, the Rams took advantage with Boughter's game winner.

MCLA had some bad breaks as they hit the crossbar and the post on two occasions in the second half and overtime.

Framingham outshot the Trailblazers 30-13 on the afternoon and held a 6-4 edge in corner kicks.  The Rams' Sam Yoder (Southbridge, Mass.) earned the shutout victory in net stopping five shots.  Wager was outstanding for MCLA as he made nine stops in a losing effort.

The Trailblazers will look to rebound when they battle SUNY Cobleskill Wednesday at 3:30 p.m., while the Rams travel to Springfield College on Tuesday evening at 7 p.m.
