Vieira and DaSilva Earn Major Awards as Men’s Soccer Places Five on All-Conference Team

Buzzards Bay, Mass. – The 2011 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) men's soccer Regular Season and Tournament Champion Framingham State University Rams placed five players on the 2011 All-MASCAC Teams and sophomore midfielder Ronaldo Vieira (Framingham, Mass.) was named the Player of the Year and freshman midfielder Bryan DaSilva (Milford, Mass.) the Rookie of the Year in voting conducted by the conference's eight coaches and announced this morning by the MASCAC Office. 

Vieira, the 2010 MASCAC Rookie of the Year, was the Rams lone first team selection, while DaSilva, sophomore forward Romulo Carvalho (Milford, Mass.), freshman back Matt Carvalho (Chicopee, Mass.) and senior back Peter Maranto (Haverhill, Mass.) all earn second team honors.

Vieira netted 11 goals and a pair of assists for 24 points in leading the Rams to both the MASCAC regular season and tournament titles and a berth in the NCAA Division III Championships.  Vieira scored four game-winning goals this season.

DaSilva scored four goals with five assists for 13 points as a rookie and he was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2011 MASCAC Tournament when he scored three goals, including the semifinal game-winner, and picked up an assist on the game-winner in the finals.

Romulo Carvalho earns his first all-conference honors as he picked up four goals and four assists for 12 points on the season including a game-winner.   Matt Carvalho and Maranto, one of the Rams co-captains, anchored the Rams defense that allowed just under two goals per game this year.
