Men’s Soccer Falls to Westfield State 1-0 – Rams MASCAC Men’s Soccer Regular Season Champions

Westfield, Mass. – The Framingham State University men's soccer team closed the regular season with a 1-0 loss at MASCAC foe Westfield State in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) men's soccer action on Saturday afternoon. 

With the loss, the Rams are now 6-8-3 on the season and 5-1-1 in the MASCAC.  Framingham State clinches the 2011 MASCAC Regular Season Championship and will be the top seed in next week's MASCAC Post Season Tournament.  The Rams await the results of the Worcester State-Fitchburg State game which was postponed on Saturday to find out who their opponent will be.  The Rams will host the fourth seed on Wednesday afternoon at Maple Street Field.

The Owls scored the game winner in the 20th minute of play as Josh Stevens hit Tim Parsons with a pass and Parsons found the back of the net for the game's only goal.

The Owls outshot the Rams 12-9 in the game while the Rams held a 3-1 edge in corner kicks.  Junior Sam Yoder (Southbridge, Mass.) made three saves for the Rams and surrendered one goal, while Jeff Pepoli made two stops for the Owls.
