Six Rams Named to MASCAC Men’s Soccer All-Conference Teams - Silva Selected Player of the Year & Vieira Selected Rookie of the Year

Buzzards Bay, Mass.  — Senior forward Jason Silva (Northbridge, Mass.) has been named as the 2010 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Soccer Player of the Year and freshman midfielder Ronaldo Vieira (Framingham, Mass.) has been tabbed as the 2010 MASCAC Rookie of the Year as they headline the league's all-conference squad in a vote taken by the conference's eight coaches.

Silva and Vieira were joined on the 2010 All-MASCAC first team by teammates Scotty Faria (Fall River, Mass.) and Joel Kayima (Malden, Mass.).  Sean Austin (Winchester, Mass.) and Will Menter (Haverhill, Mass.) were named second-team all-conference.

Silva earned MASCAC Player of the Year accolades for the second straight season, as he registered 15 goals and five assists for 35 points in leading the Rams to 11 regular season victories and a berth in the conference semifinals.  Over the past two seasons, Silva has registered 54 regular season points and he has moved into fourth on the FSU career scoring list with 124 career points.

Vieira netted five goals and two assists for 12 points during his rookie season and is the second Ram to earn Rookie of the Year honors during head coach Dean Nichols eight years at the helm of the Rams men's soccer program.

Faria, a senior midfielder, earns All-MASCAC honors for the fourth time in his career as he netted 11 goals and four assists on the season.  Kayima, who was also a 2009 first-team selection, was honored among the league's backs as he was part of a Rams defense that allowed only 1.5 goals per game.

Austin, who returned for his senior season in 2010, and Menter are both starting backs for the Rams.  Austin earns All-MASCAC honors for the second time in his career as he was a first-team selection in 2008.  Menter, a sophomore, also earns his second All-MASCAC selection as he was a second-team selection in 2009.

The Rams finished the regular season 11-8 and earned the fourth seed in the MASCAC Championship Tournament where they will face top seed Westfield State on Wednesday night in Westfield.
