Men's Soccer Defeats Clark 3-2

Worcester, Mass. – Visiting Framingham State scored two goals in the first half and another in the first 30 seconds of the second half to collect a 3-2 win over Clark University in non-conference men's soccer action on a rainy Granger Soccer Field Wednesday evening.

The win extends the Rams winning streak to two games over the Cougars, who have now lost three straight games for the second time this season. Framingham State moves to 11-7 overall, while Clark slips to 5-8-2 with one regular season game remaining on their schedule.

The Rams got the scoring going in the tenth minute when freshman Ryan Boughter (Rockland, Mass.) notched his first collegiate tally with a hard shot fired left to right from about 25 yards out.

Clark answered back when Trevor Hendry (Waterford, Conn.) sent in a header of off of a corner feed from Gianluca Ranallo (Scarsdale, N.Y.) in the 23rd minute.

Then in the 34th minute, after being inserted into the game just moments before, senior Andrew Berte (Malden, Mass.) finished off of a pass from Richie Green (Haverhill, Mass.) to give the Rams a 2-1 halftime edge.

The Rams pushed their lead to 3-1 in the opening minute of the second half when Scott Faria (Fall River, Mass.) registered his 11th goal of the season with help from sophomore Bryan Damas (Milford, Mass.).

Will Van Noppen (Providence, R.I.) brought the Cougars closer with his fifth tally of the campaign off of a Greg Jancarik (Swansea, Mass.) pass at the 57:11 mark, but Clark would never get the equalizer.

The game played pretty evenly with the Rams holding a 15-13 edge in shots and the Cougars having a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Greg Halle (Beverly, Mass.) turned back four shots for Framingham State, while Ryan King (Brimfield, Mass.) made four stops of his own before being replaced in the 72nd minute by Alphonso Alvarez (San Salvador, El Salvador).

The Rams will play their final regular season game on Saturday when they host Westfield State, while Clark will host Babson on Saturday as well.
