Men's Soccer Falls to Keene State 4-1

Keene, N.H.  – Freshman Scott Douglas (East Greenwich, R.I.) scored a pair of goals and added an assist to lead the Keene State men's soccer team to a 4-1 non-conference victory over Framingham State University at Owl Athletic Complex on Wednesday evening.

Keene State improves to 10-4-2 while Framingham State falls to 9-6 on the season.

The Owls' defense came up big in the early going to keep the Rams off the board.  Senior Jason Silva (Northbridge, Mass.) unloaded three straight shots on goal.  His first hit off the post, his second was headed away by sophomore back Blake Nyman (Plymouth, Mass.) and his third was saved by KSC senior goalie Paul Blackmer (Boylston, Mass.).

The Keene State offense then went to work.  Senior Luke Sisco (Pine Plains, N.Y.) put the Owls up 1-0 when he headed home a crossing ball from Douglas. Douglas gave KSC a 2-0 lead with a breakaway goal with 45 seconds to play in the half.

Junior Kevin Gomes (Halifax, Mass.) scored his first college goal 29 seconds into the second half on a long drive from 35-yards out that found the top corner of the net.

Douglas went around a couple of players to score his second goal of the game and his fourth of the season to make it 4-0 at the 50:21 mark.

KSC lost its shutout bid five minutes later when freshman Ronaldo Vieira (Framingham, Mass.) blasted a shot past Blackmer from the top of the box.

Keene State held a slim 12-11 lead in shots and a 2-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Both teams used two goalies.  Blackmer played the first 82:09 for KSC, making five saves, while freshman Malcolm Cheney (Hopkinton, Mass.) played the rest of the way and made one save.

Senior Greg Halle (Beverly, Mass.) got the start for the Rams and made four saves in his 50:21 in the net.  Sophomore Sam Yoder (Southbridge, Mass.) finished up and made two saves.

Keene State is at Western Conn. on Sunday, while Framingham State hosts Fitchburg State on Saturday at 11 a.m.
