Men's Soccer Wins Sixth in a Row

Buzzards Bay, Mass. -- Senior Jason Silva (Northbridge, Mass.) netted a goal and an assist to lead Framingham State to a 2-0 victory over Massachusetts Maritime in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference men's soccer opener for both squads Saturday afternoon at Clean Harbors Stadium.

Senior Scott Faria (Fall River, Mass.) gave the visiting Rams (6-0, 1-0 MASCAC) the only marker they would need 3:30 into the contest by converting Silva's feed on a breakaway for his seventh goal of the season, and Silva provided an insurance tally in the 57th minute with his seventh goal of the year on a rebound of a shot by sophomore Chris Wilkins (Heath, Mass.) to ice the Framingham State triumph.

Senior Greg Halle (Beverly, Mass.) made five saves to pick up his sixth victory and fourth shutout of the season in goal for Framingham State, while freshman Brett Young (Falmouth, Mass.) made seven stops in net in the setback for the host Buccaneers (1-4, 0-1 MASCAC), as the Rams outshot Massachusetts Maritime by a 17-8 margin for the match.

Massachusetts Maritime heads to Medford, Mass. on Tuesday evening to take on Tufts in a non-league outing that begins at 7:00 p.m., while Framingham State hosts Babson in a non-league match on Wednesday afternoon in Framingham, Mass. beginning at 4:00 p.m.
