Men's Soccer Shutsout Curry 4-0

Milton, Mass. - Curry College lost to Framingham State University 4-0 on Wednesday in Milton in a non-conference men's soccer match.  With the win the Rams improve to 3-0 overall, while the Colonels fall to 1-3 overall.

Framingham got on the board first at the 34:09 mark after freshman Ronaldo Vieira (Framingham, Mass.) crossed the ball to teammate senior Jason Silva (Northbridge, Mass.) who put it past Curry's freshman goalkeeper James Oliver (Hanover, Mass.).

Both teams had scoring opportunities later in the half but solid play from the teams' goalkeepers kept the score at 1-0 Framingham.

The Colonels gained control of the ball early in the second and just under two minutes into the second half, sophomore Devin Sadlers (Somerset, Mass.) had an opportunity to tie the game when he was awarded a penalty kick after a Framingham foul in the box.  Sadlers however misplaced the shot and the ball sailed over the crossbar of the net.

The Rams would take a 2-0 lead at 75:53 when Vieira dribbled past the Curry defenders and put the ball past Oliver.  Just 26 seconds later Framingham's Silva scored his second of the night when senior Scotty Faria (Fall River, Mass.) sent a long pass to him to set up Silva's fifth goal of the season.  The Rams would get one more for the 4-0 victory as sophomore Jepherson Cardoso (Framingham, Mass.) would score off an assist from sophomore Cory Ferris (Somerset, Mass.)

Framingham held a 30-19 advantage in shots but were called for seven offsides to Curry's one.

In net for Framingham was senior Greg Halle (Beverly, Mass.), who made 11 saves and picked up his second straight shutout win.  In net for Curry was Oliver, who also made 11 saves in the loss.

The Colonels will host TCCC opponent Roger Williams University on September 10 at 6:30 p.m., while Framingham State University will host WPI on Saturday, September 11 at 10 a.m.
