Faria’s Goal Lifts Men’s Soccer to 1-0 Win Over Mass. Maritime

Framingham, Mass. - Junior midfielder Scott Faria (Fall River, MA) scored the game winner in the 7th minute to lift the Framingham State College men's soccer team to a 1-0 Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) win over the Massachusetts Maritime Academy Buccaneers.  With the win, the Rams improve to 1-1 in the MASCAC and 2-6 overall, while the loss drops the Buccaneers to 0-2 in the MASCAC and 3-3-1 overall.

Junior midfielder Brunno Goncalves (Framingham, Mass.) sent a cross into the box that deflected off the Mass. Maritime goal keeper right to Faria who was able to score his first goal of the season in the empty net.

The Rams outshot the Buccaneers 21-13 on the day and 11-6 in the first half.  Sophomore goalie Mark Mullaney (Bridgewater, Mass.) made 11 saves on the day for the Buccaneers and kept them within striking distance.  Junior Greg Halle (Beverly, Mass.) made five saves on the day for the Rams and picked up the shut out win.

The Rams return to action on Wednesday as they travel to Rhode Island College at 6 p.m., while the Buccaneers travel to Anna Maria College on Thursday at 4 p.m.
