Men's Soccer Drops 2-0 Decision at Roger Williams

Box Score

Bristol, R.I. - A pair of second-half goals helped push the Roger Williams University men's soccer team past Framingham State College Wednesday afternoon by the score of 2-0.

The first half of play was marked by ball control and a conservative approach on both sides of the ball, with only nine shots taken between both teams. The second half saw both teams pick up the pace on the offensive end, evidenced by Framigham State goalkeeper Sam Yoder (Southbridge, Mass.) registering a save within the first minute of play.

At the 48:47 mark, the Hawks were able to notch their first score of the game when Bradley Macdonald (Topsfield, Mass.) served up a corner kick to the far side of the goal, where teammate Kevin Hand (Wilton, Conn.) was able to sky over the Ram defenders and head in the ball jump past Yoder for his second goal of the year.

The one-goal lead for RWU would stand for another nine minutes until Liam Isleib (Killingworth, Conn.) was just able to redirect a Justin Plourde (Concord, N.H.) free kick into the back of the net.

T.J. Doherty (East Granby, Conn.) earned his second win of the season, making one save in the second half after coming in relief of Peter Plate (Commack, N.Y.), who also made a save in 45 minutes.

Yoder suffered the loss, making six saves in the game yet allowing both Hawk goals. Teammate Will Menter (Haverhill, Mass.) attempted two shots for the Rams.

Roger Williams (4-3-0) will host Anna Maria College Saturday for a 1 p.m. game, while Framingham State (1-4-0) will be at Westfield State College Saturday at 6 p.m.
