Men's Soccer Falls to Curry, 3-1

Box Score

Framingham, Mass. - Senior forward Benjamin Radzicki (Sterling, MA) headed in a cross from freshman forward Darren Smith (Wilmington, DE) in the 51st minute to break a 1-1 tie and lift the Curry College Colonels to a 3-1 win over the Framingham State College men's soccer team in non-conference action this afternoon at Maple Street Field.

Freshman Zachary French (Gill, MA) gave Curry a 1-0 lead in the 28th minute as he took a pass from Radzicki and sent a shot that deflected off a Ram and into the back of the net.  Curry's lead would be short lived as less than six minutes later the Rams would tie the game at 1-1.  Junior midfielder Scott Faria (New Bedford, MA) lofted a corner kick into the box that junior midfielder Rob O'Doherty (Shrewsbury, MA) headed home for his first goal of the season.

The Colonels had a chance to take the lead a minute later when they were awarded a penalty kick after a player was taken down in the box.  Smith took the penalty kick for the Colonels and junior goal keeper Greg Halle (Beverly, MA) made a diving save and the Rams were able to clear the ball to keep the score tied.  The Rams best opportunity to go ahead came in the 41st minute off a direct kick, but senior Jared Curry's (Westboro, MA) shot hit the cross bar.

The game would continue to go back and forth until the Colonels were finally able to capitalize on a scoring chance in the 51st minute with Radzicki scoring his first of the day.  Radzicki would add an insurance goal for the Colonels in the 80th minute as he headed home a cross from sophomore Benjamin Harvitt (Warren, NJ).

Sophomore Brian Newsome (Lawrenceville, NJ) made seven saves and picked up the win in net for Curry, while Halle made two saves before leaving the game.  Freshman Sam Yoder (Southbridge, MA) finished the game in net and made five saves while picking up the loss.

The Rams return to action on Wednesday as they host Elms at 4 p.m., while the Colonels host Eastern Nazarene at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
