Seven Rams Named to All-MASCAC Team

Framingham, MA - Seven Rams were chosen to the Massachusetts State College Athletics Conference (MASCAC) Men's Soccer All-Conference Teams which is voted on by the head coaches of the member institutions.

Sophomore forward Jason Silva (Milford, MA), the 2007 MASCAC Rookie of the Year, earned All-MASCAC first team honors for the second year in a row.  Silva, who scored a team-high 13 goals this season, is the conference leader in several offensive categories including points (30) and points per game (1.76). 

Joining Silva on the first team are sophomore midfielder Scott Faria (Fall River, MA), who was a second team selection in 2007, senior back Steve Rosenthal (Stoneham, MA), who was also a first team selection last season, and junior back Sean Austin (Winchester, MA).  Austin and Rosenthal were part of the Rams defense that allowed a meager one goal per game this season.

Senior Johnny Goncalves (Framingham, MA) earned second team honors for the third time in his four years.  Goncalves, who was a first team selection in 2007, was second on the team in goals and points this season and was among the conference leaders in most offensive categories.  Senior midfielder Mike Jones (Norwood, MA), who is the MASCAC assist leader this season and sophomore goalie Greg Halle (Beverly, MA) also received second team honors.

As a team the Rams compiled an overall record of 14-3-1 during the regular season and were unbeaten in conference play at 6-0-1.  They earned the top seed in the MASCAC Men's Soccer Tournament for the second straight year and set a school record for victories (15) with their win in the semifinals of the MASCAC Tournament over the fourth seeded MCLA Trailblazers.  The Rams host the second seed Salem State Vikings on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the finals of the MASCAC Tournament with a birth in the NCAA Tournament on the line.
