Men's Soccer Wins Fourth Straight

Framingham, MA - Senior forward Johnny Goncalves (Framingham, MA) scored the game winner in the 61st minute as the Framingham State College men's soccer team came from behind to beat the St. Joseph's College (ME) Monks 3-2 at Maple Street Field. The Rams extend their current winning streak to four games and improve to 12-2-1 on the season, while the Monks fall to 8-5-3 on the year.

Junior forward Alex Hill (Abington, MA) headed in a long cross from senior John Strazzullo (Webster, MA) in the 14th minute to give the Rams a 1-0 lead.  St. Joseph's responded with two goals of their own to take a 2-1 lead into the half.  Senior Lane Hubacz (Mapleville, RI) headed in a free kick from Paul Robins (Cornwall, England) in the 25th minute and Robins scored unassisted in the 41st minute.

The Rams scored two goals less than five minutes apart in the second half to pick up the win.  Senior Mike Jones (Norwood, MA) collected a rebound in the box and beat the Monks keeper for his 4th goal of the year in the 56th minute and Goncalves scored the game winner off a cross from Jason Silva (Milford, MA) in the 61st minute.

Both teams return to action on Saturday as the Rams travel to Bridgewater State at 10 a.m. and the Monks travel to Rivier at 1 p.m.
