Men's Soccer Shuts Out Johnson & Wales

Framingham, MA - Sophomore goalkeeper Greg Halle (Beverly, MA) made four saves en route to the shut out win as the Framingham State Rams defeated Johnson & Wales 4-0 today at Maple Street Field in non-conference men's soccer action.   With the win the Rams remain undefeated at 3-0 this season, while Johnson & Wales is still in search of its first victory at 0-5.

The Rams took a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute of play as sophomore midfielder Brunno Goncalves (Framingham, MA) fed the ball perfectly thru the Wildcats defense to junior midfielder Jared Curry (Westboro, MA), who maneuvered around the Wildcats goalkeeper for his fourth goal of the season.

The Rams offense controlled the game as they out shot the Wildcats 20-11, but only had the one goal to show for their efforts until late in the game when the Rams would add three goals in a six minute span.  In the 77th minute sophomore Scott Faria (Fall River, MA) connected on his first goal of the season with senior Mike Jones (Norwood, MA) picking up the assist.  Senior Johnny Goncalves (Framingham, MA) and sophomore Jason Silva (Milford, MA) connected on the Rams next two goals with Goncalves scoring in the 78th minute off a pass from Silva and Silva heading in a direct kick from Goncalves in the 82nd minute.

Both teams return to action on Saturday as Rams travel to Becker College for a 2:30 match, while the Wildcats travel to Norwich at 1:00.
