Men's Soccer Picks Up Fifth Conference Win of the Season

Framingham, MA -  The Framingham State College men's soccer team defeated the MCLA Trailblazers 4-1 at home today on Maple Street Field and are currently sitting atop the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) men's soccer standings at 5-1 with one conference game remaining.  A win or tie next weekend would guarantee the Rams at least a share of the regular season conference title.

The Rams (11-3-1) controlled the pace of play and maintained pressure in their offensive end for most of the game as they outshot the Trailblazers (4-9-1) 19-8.  The Rams Jason Silva (Milford, MA) put the Rams ahead 2-0 as he scored two goals in six minutes.  In the 14th minute of play as he took a pass from Kyle Willingham (Greensboro, NC) and found the back of the net for his 9th goal of the season and in the 20th minute he headed in his 10th goal of the season off a pass from Scott Faria (Fall River, MA).  The Rams would take the 2-0 lead into the half.

The Rams would double their lead in the second half as Faria knocked home his 9th goal of the year in the 49th minute and junior Johnny Goncalves (Framingham, MA) added his 11th of the season in the 58th minute.

The Trailblazers cut the Rams lead to 4-1 in the 61st minute as Joe Irwin headed the ball in off a cross from Joe Deady.

The Rams return to action on Wednesday as they play host to Southern Vermont at 3 p.m., while the Trailblazers host RPI on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
