Ice Hockey Falls to UMass Dartmouth 4-3 in MASCAC Tilt

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University ice hockey team surrendered what proved to be the game winner on the power play just over two minutes into the third period as the Rams were defeated 4-3 by UMass Dartmouth in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Loring Arena.   

THE BASICS:

-Records: Framingham State (5-14-1, 3-10-1 MASCAC), UMass Dartmouth (8-11-2, 6-7-1 MASCAC)  

- Location: Loring Arena Framingham, Mass.     

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • The Corsairs jumped on the board early when Matt Zdanowicz found the back of the net from the right side just over a minute into the game. 

  • The Rams knotted the game at 1-1 just under seven minutes into the game when Dylan Marty carried the puck down the left side and found the back of the net. 

  • UMass Dartmouth regained the lead on a power play goal from Tyler Stewart with five minutes remaining in the opening period, but the Rams tied the game with just under two to play on a goal from Matt Irwin. 

  • UMass Dartmouth's Clay Ellerbrock scored on the power play 14 minutes into the second period and Kaleb Kinskey deflected in a goal for the Rams with just over three to go sending the game to the second intermission tied 3-3. 

  • The Corsairs tallied their third power play goal of the game and what proved to be the game-winner just over two minutes into the third. Cade Hanley found the back of the net with the man advantage for the 4-3 lead. 

 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • The Corsairs held a slim 35-32 edge in shots for the game and converted on all three of their power play attempts. The Rams were 0-for-4 with the man advantage. 

  • Liam Kilgallen took the loss in goal for the Rams making 31 saves, while Daniel Davidson earned the victory making 29 stops.

The Rams are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Fitchburg State for a MASCAC clash at 5 p.m. The Corsairs travel to Plymouth State on Saturday at 6 p.m. in another MASCAC tilt.
