Men’s Ice Hockey Downed at Saint Anselm

HOW IT HAPPENED:  

• Senior Andrew Andary and junior Liam Lyons netted two goals each in the win. Sophomore Luke Mix, senior Matt Hayes and junior Tommy Schwartz went for two points apiece. 

• Andary opened the scoring just 31 seconds into the opening period as he collected a pass from Jack Murphy and drove into the attacking end. Andary would fire a wrist shot through a screen in front of the goal and find the upper right corner of the twine for the game's first tally. 

• Schwartz doubled the lead just 3:07 later as he walked off the right wall to the top of slot and sent a snapshot by Rams netminder Trevor Stenberg. 

• Andary netted his second of the game at 13:40 of the first period as he scooped up a deflected pass and beat Stenberg who got a piece of the shot attempt but not enough to keep it out of the back of the net, pushing the lead to 3-0. 

• Jerry Duckett converted on a Hawks defensive zone turnover at 17:35 of the first frame to put the Rams on the scoreboard. Duckett collected a loose puck at the top of the slot and fired a wrist shot by sophomore goaltender Trevor Lally, which made the score 3-1 in Saint Anselm's favor. 

• The squads traded goals in the closing minutes of the second period as Lyons sent a one-timer from sophomore Max Burum before a long point shot in the closing seconds by Devante Dixon made the score 4-2 through 40 minutes of play. 

• Sophomore Hunter Brackett and Lyons each found the back of the goal in the third period which powered the Hawks to the 6-2 win. 

• Neither team was able to convert on the power play as Saint Anselm was scoreless in its two chances while Framingham State was scoreless on its one opportunity. The Hawks held a 40-28 advantage in shots on goal and were led by Andary and Lyons who had six shots apiece. 

• Lally made 26 saves in the goal for the Hawks and earned his second career win in the contest. Stenberg suffered the loss for the Rams after making 34 saves.
