Plymouth Skates Past Ice Hockey; 8-3

FraminghamMass.  The Plymouth State ice hockey erased a 2-1 deficit to defeat Framingham State by a score of 8-3 in MASCAC action Saturday afternoon at Loring Arena.  

THE BASICS: 

- Score: Plymouth State 8, Framingham State 3 

- Records: Framingham State (1-11, 0-7 MASCAC), Plymouth State (9-4-2, 6-2-1 MASCAC) 

- Location: Loring Arena - FraminghamMass. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:  

  • Plymouth got on the board in the sixth minute when Ted Austin finished a one time pass from Colin Tracy to capitalize on a 4-on-3 Plymouth power play.  

  • The Rams knotted the score early in the second when Johnny Baker beat Kalle Anderson over his right shoulder after carrying the puck in from his own blue line.  

  • The Rams capitalized on a powerplay of their own when Brian Kozek buried a slap shot off a setup from Luca Olivio to give the Rams a 2-1 edge.  

  • Plymouth answered with a powerplay goal of their own just moments later when Peter Laviolette sneaked one past Blake Carlson to even up the game at two goals apiece.  

  • The Panthers scored three more times in the second period to send them into the break. In the 15th minute Whim Stalberg gave the Panthers the lead followed by a JR Barone goal in the 17th minute and Myles Abbate scored on the power play in the 18th minute.  

  • The visitors picked up third period goals from Barone, Lucas Holmquist and Laviolette and Baker scored his second of the game for the Rams to reach the final margin.   

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Kalle Andersson made 27 saves in the win for the Panthers.  

  • Blake Carlson turned away 36 shots before giving way to Matthew Cucinotta in the setback for the Rams.  

  • The Panthers outshot the Rams by a margin of 48-to-30. 

  • The visitors were 3-for-6 on the man advantage compared to a 2-for-10 mark for the host Rams.  

UP NEXT: 

  • The Rams will travel to Fitchburg on Tuesday evening for a MASCAC clash while the Panthers will host UMass Dartmouth the same day in a MASCAC tilt.
