New England College Skates Through Ice Hockey; 6-0

FraminghamMass  The New England College men's ice hockey team defeated Framingham State by a score of 6-0 in non-conference action Tuesday evening at Loring Arena.  

THE BASICS: 

- Score: New England College 6, Framingham State 0 

- Records: Framingham State (0-3) New England College (3-1) 

- Location:Loring Arena - Framingham, Mass.  

HOW IT HAPPENED:  

  • The visitors got on the board first in the 14th minute when Hunter Hall finished off a 3-on-1 break to goal with help from Connor Inger and David Novotny. 

  • NEC came out of the first intermission with a quick goal when Inger scored with a helper from Trevor Momot just 28 seconds into the frame.  

  • A few moments later Alex Laplante cleaned up his own rebound on the power play to extend the lead to 3-0.  

  • The visitors extended their lead to 4-0 on a David Novotny goal with just over four minutes to play in the second period.  

  • NEC scored another quick goal out of the break this time only 11 seconds into the third when Inger scored his second of the game cleaning up a rebound off a Momot shot. CJ Valerian added to the NEC lead about 7 minutes later.  

  • The Rams had two good chances to score in the third but both shots hit the pipe and were cleared out of danger.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Andrew Kormos made 33 saves in the win for the Pilgrims. 

  • Blake Carlson stopped 36 shots in net for the Rams before giving way to Matthew Cucinotta who made 16 saves. 

  • NEC was 2-for-6on the power play while the Rams were 0-for-4.  

 

UP NEXT: 

  • The Rams return to the ice on Thursday when they travel to UMass Dartmouth for MASCAC action. NEC will travel to Castleton for NEHC action.
