UMD Blows by Ice Hockey; 7-2

Framingham, Mass. – Six UMass Dartmouth players scored goals as the Corsairs skated to a 7-2 victory over Framingham State Saturday evening in MASCAC action at Loring Arena. With the win, the Corsairs improve to 3-3-1 and 3-1-1 in the MASCAC. The Rams are now 2-4-2 and 1-3 in league play.

UMD was lead by Jonathan Ruiz (Williamstown, NJ) who had two goals and an assist on the night. Noah Anderson (Groveland, NY) added a goal and an assist while Kris Holmes (Newburyport, Mass.), Connor Court (Swansea, IL), Cameron Mack (Long Beach, CA) and Kenny Tencza (Naples, FL) all picked up scores for the visitors.

Court scored in the opening minute of play followed by Ruiz's shorthanded tally a few moments later to jump out to a 2-0 lead. The Rams answered with a Matt Siegel (Syracuse, NY) power play goal in the 8th minute of play but Holmes extended the visitors lead back to two goals heading into the first intermission. 

The Rams scored the lone goal of the 2nd period when Jack Sheehan (Norwood, Mass.) scored late in the frame to again cut it to a two-goal game.

The Corsairs scored four unanswered goals in the third period to put the game away.

Tommy Bay (Duluth, GA) made 18 saves in the win for UMD. Greg Harney (East Haven, Conn.) was charged with the loss after being relieved by Brendan Cytulik (Framingham, Mass.).

UMD outshot the Rams 31-to-20 and went 2-for-7 on the power play to the Rams 1-for-7. The Rams will travel to Binghamton, New York to play in the Binghamton Devils Tournament on Saturday, November 25 vs. SUNY Cortland. The Corsiars will play Suffolk on the same day as part of the 2017 Manchester PAL Cup.
