Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State University men's ice hockey team saw their season come to a close after a 3-1 loss to UMass. Dartmouth on Tuesday evening at Loring arena. With the win the Corsairs improve to 17-8 and 12-6 in the conference and await the results of the remainder of conference play to finalize their tournament seeding. The Rams season closes at 2-23 and 1-17 in the MASCAC.

Prior to the contest the Rams honored their four seniors playing in their final game: Chris Andre (New Bedford, Mass.), Cam Coburn (Fresno, CA), Mark Essery (Rockfall, Conn.) and team captain Vaughn Guetens (Cheshire, Conn.).

The Corsairs got on the board with just less than five to play in the first period when Brendan McDonough (Wilmington, Mass.) scored with an assist coming from Hunter Wilhoite (Brentwood, TN). The Rams answered in the final minute of the frame when Jack Sheehan (Norwood, Mass.) sent in a one-time pass across the crease from Essery and Ryan McDonough (Dorchester, Mass.) also assisting.

The two teams skated to a scoreless second period thanks to a diving glove save by Rams goalie Adam Calabrese (Philadelphia, PA) while shorthanded right around the final minute of the frame.

The Corsairs took the lead about halfway through the period with a power-play goal. Mike Sones (Waterdown, ON) sent a long strike past Calabrese after a one-time pass from Casey Shea (Woburn, Mass.) with Baldino also assisting. The Corsairs added an insurance goal with just over seven minutes to play when Laakso gathered a loose puck near the blueline and flung a shot off Calabrese's glove and into the cage.

Drew Michals (Newton, Mass.) made 36 stops in net for the Corsiars. Calbrese made 39 saves for the Rams.
