Owls Fly Past Men’s Ice Hockey; 7-2

Framingham, Mass.- The Westfield State men's ice hockey team scored four straight second period goals on their way to a 7-2 victory over Framingham State in MASCAC action Thursday evening at Loring arena. With the win the Owls improve to 10-11 and 6-13 in league play. With the loss the Rams are now 2-21 and 1-15 in MASCAC action.

The Rams got on the board in the second minute of the game when Chris Andre (New Bedford, Mass.) found the back of the net with assists from Tyler Colacchio (Bellingham, Mass.) and Keith Barnaby (Leominster, Mass.).

The Owls tied the game in the fourth minute of the second frame when Aaron Clancy (Qunicy, Mass.) scored short-handed with assists from Jordan Marsirossian (Monroeville, PA) and Jake Suvak (Parma Height, OH). About ten minutes later they took the lead with a power-play goal from Nik Passero (Fort Erie, ON) with helpers from Clancy and Carl Greco (Niagra Falls, ON).

The visitors added two more quick scores when Lenny Caglianone (Matawan, NJ) scored with help from Jackson Leef (Fort Wayne, IN) and then FX Girard (St Lazare, QB) scored with assists being credited to Pearce Vance (Berkley, MI) and Gerald Colpoys (Scituate, Mass.).

Westfield added to their advantage just after the five-minute mark in the third when Vance scored with help from Mardirossian and Girard to push the Owls lead to 5-1.

The Rams countered when Greg Stoya (Lake George, NY) scored unassisted a few moments later to cut the Rams deficit to three scores.

Westfield scored an insurance goal off a faceoff with just over six minutes to play when Clancy scored his second of the night with an assist from Mardirossian. The final margin was reached when the Owls scored on a power play in the final minutes when Leef found the back of the net with help from Vance and Caglianone.

Jonathan LoParco (Vaughan, Ont.) made 17 stops in the win for the Owls. Adam Calabrese (Philadelphia, PA) made 38 saves in net for the Rams.

The Rams return to the ice on Saturday, February 18th when they travel to Salem State in for MASCAC action. The Owls host Plymouth State on Tuesday, February 21st
