Lancers Defeat Men’s Ice Hockey; 6-0

Framingham, Mass- The Framingham State men's ice hockey team fell to Worcester State by a score of 6-0 in MASCAC action Thursday evening at Loring arena. With the win the Lancers improve to 4-7-3 and 2-4-2 MASCAC. The Rams are now 1-12 and 0-8 in league play.

The Lancers broke the scoreless game in the 8th minute of play when Colin Whitt (South Lake, TX) scored with Alex DeWitz (Oronoco, MN) assisting. The visitors scored again in the period, this time on the power play when Kyle Griffin (Marlboro, Mass.) sniped in a shot from just inside the blue line with Josh Reinstein (Woodland Hills, CA) earning the assist.

The Lancers added to their lead in the second frame again striking on the power play. In the opening minute Nick Patullo (Doylesville, PA) scored on a slapshot with assists going to Alex DeWitz (Oronoco, MN) and Jim LeNoir (Exton, PA).

The Rams had a good opportunity to score late in the second frame but Cam Coburn's (Fresno, CA) shot hit the pipe and was deflected out of harms way. 

Worcester added to their lead in the third period when Mitchell Purdie (Cavan, Ont.) scored in the 7th minute with Per Neuburger (Foxboro, Mass.) and Evan Sterling (Great Falls, VA) assisting. Purdie scored again on power play with just under five to play with Sterling and Alex Pommerville (Macedon, NY) assisting. The visitors scored again later in the period when Andrew Etheridge (Burrville, RI) scored with Purdie and Mike Palmer (Grafton, Mass) on the helpers to reach the final margin.

Reinstein made 30 saves for the victory for the Lancers. Greg Harney (East Haven, Conn.) turned away 37 shots for the Rams.

The Rams return to the ice on Saturday, January 14th when they travel to Wentworth for non-conference action. The Lancers host Fitchburg State on the same day.
