Men’s Ice Hockey Falls to Western New England

Framingham, Mass- The Framingham State men's ice hockey team were defeated by a score of 4-2 by Western New England in non-conference action Monday evening at Loring Arena. The Golden Bears improve to 5-7-2 on the year. The Rams are now 1-11 on the season.

The Bears opened up scoring halfway through the first period when CJ Totillo (Brooklyn, NY) sent Matt Audet's (Campbell, CA) rebounded shot past the Rams goalie. WNE scored again with just over five minutes to play in the period when Stefan Koproske (Simsbury, Conn.) got on the board with helpers from Tyler Hines (North Haven, Conn.) and Audet.

The visitors extended they lead in second period when Steve Beck (Milton, NY) scored with assists from Audet and Brian Hurley (Baldwin, NY). 

The Rams got on the board less than a minute later when Jack Sheehan (Norwood, Mass.) scored with Mark Essery (Rockfall, Conn.) and Vaughn Guetens (Cheshire, Conn.) assisting. 

The Rams cut the deficit to one goal with just over five minutes to play in regulation when Ryan McDonough (Dorchester, Mass.) found the back of the net with Parker Cowand (Dallas, TX) and Zack D'Errico (Concord, NH) assisting. 

Josh Twietmeyer (Weston, FL) scored an empty net goal in the final minute for the Golden Bears to reach the final margin.

Golden Bears goalie Kevin Gollmer (Flourtown, PA) made 36 saves in the win for WNE. Rams goalie Greg Harney (East Have, Conn.) made 27 stops in net for FSU.

The Rams return to the ice on Thursday, January 12th when they host Worcester State. The Golder Bears travel to SUNY Fredonia on the same day.
