Angers Named Framingham State University Head Ice Hockey Coach

Framingham, Mass. – Framingham State University Director of Athletic Tom Kelley is pleased to announce the hiring of Guy Angers as the Rams head men's ice hockey coach.  Angers is making a return to the Rams after serving as the head coach from 1990-96.

"We are very excited to welcome Guy back to the Framingham State ice hockey program," said Kelley.  "He had tremendous success here in the 1990s and we are looking forward to him elevating the program to a contender in the MASCAC."

During his five years at the helm of the Rams ice hockey program from 1990-96, Angers compiled an overall record of 80-64-8 (.523) which included four appearances in the ECAC Tournament.  The Rams advanced to the semifinals in 1994-95 and Angers was recognized as the 1995 New England Writers Coach of the Year for his efforts.

Since leaving the Rams, Angers has held several head coaching positions at both the collegiate and high school levels. Most recently, Angers served as the head boys' ice hockey coach at Worcester Academy since 2014. Prior to arriving at Worcester Academy, Angers was the head women's ice hockey coach at Nichols College and spent time coaching at the Worcester Public School and St. Peter Marian High School.

Angers is a graduate of Fitchburg State University where he earned a degree in elementary and special education. During his time at Fitchburg State, Angers was a member of both the ice hockey and baseball teams. Angers completed work on a Master's Degree at Clark University and currently works as special education teacher with the Worcester Public Schools.
