Men's Ice Hockey Falls in OT

Nashua, NH – The Framingham State men's ice hockey team fell in overtime, 3-2 on the road to Daniel Webster in non-conference action Saturday evening.

Sophomore Jeremey Hannah (Dieppe, N.B.) rocketed home the rebound of a David Downie (Merrimack, N.H.) shot 1:37 into sudden victory overtime lifting the Eagles past Framingham State.
The victory was the third straight for the first-year NCAA varsity program after a 0-2 start. Framingham State dipped to 2-2 overall.
Hannah's game-winner, his team-leading third of the season, came from directly in front about 10 feet out after Downie's blast from the top of the right circle was kicked out giving a punctuation mark the first home game of the NCAA era for the program.

Morgan Hudson (Ottawa, Ont.) was superb again for DWC, turning aside 40 shots as he improved to 3-3 on the year with 16 saves in the first, 11 in the second, 12 in the third in one in overtime.

Clay Plyler (Manor, Penn.) and Matt Fitzpatrick (Wolfeboro, N.H.) also scored for the hosts.

Jake McKinnon (Framingham, Mass.) netted both Rams goals. Keith Barnaby (Leominster, Mass.) added two assists.

Adam Calabrese (Philadelphia,PA) posted 28 saves in goal for the Rams.

After a scoreless first period in which the Rams controlled most of the tempo including a 16-6 shots on goal advantage, DWC stunned the visitors scoring twice in the span of just 14 seconds as Plyler put DWC ahead 1-0 on an unassisted tally and Fitzpatrick batted home a Hannah rebound for the 2-0 lead.

McKinnon would halve the lead with 4:51 remaining off a Hayden Lyle (N. Kingstown, R.I.) on the power play for a 2-1 game after two. McKinnon would not it with 7:10 remaining in the third.

Framingham finished with a 42-31 advantage in shots and were 1-5 on the power play while DWC went 0-for-4. The teams finished even in face offs (35-35).

The Eagles return to action hosting Franklin Pierce on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

Framingham visits Plymouth State on Thursday for a MASCAC meeting at 6:00 p.m.
