McCarron Hat-trick leads Hockey to MASCAC Win

Worcester, Mass. – The Framingham State University men's hockey team scored five consecutive goals in the second and third periods the take a 5-2 victory over Worcester State on Thursday evening in MASCAC action.

With the victory the Rams pick up their first victory on the year moving to 1-3-1 (1-2-1 MASCAC) and the Lancers even out at 2-2-2 (1-1-1 MASCAC).

Worcester State got on the board in the first period when Alex Dewitz scored six minutes into the contest.

The Rams answered when senior Brendan McCarron (Millbury, Mass.) scored the first of his three goals on the night with a score nine minutes into the second period. A few minutes later Ryan McDonald (Anchorage, AK) scored a power play goal to give the Rams the lead, a lead they would not relinquish.

The Rams tallied another three scores over the next ten minutes of play before Alex Dewitz cut the Rams lead to 5-2 but that's as close as it would get.

McCarron finished with a hat-trick and an assist while McDonald accounted for the other two scores and assisted on the three McCarron goals. Dylan Cosford (Windsor, OT), Mark Essery (Rockfall, CT) & Vaughn Guetens (Chesire, CT) all tallied an assist and Keith Barnaby (Leominster, Mass.) picked up two.

Alessio Muggli (Rueti, Switzerland) made 36 saves in the victory for the Rams.

Drew Case allowed two goals and made eleven saves in 18:05 and Salvatore Tecci stopped thirteen of the sixteen attempts on net in 39:55 for the Lancers.

The Rams return to action on Saturday, November 22nd when they host Fitchburg at 7:40 p.m.
