New Bedford, Mass. – The Framingham State University ice hockey team erased a 2-1 deficit with three third period goals to secure a 4-2 road victory over the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth this afternoon in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Hetland Arena.

With the victory, the Rams improve to 8-8-4 on the year and 6-5-3 in the MASCAC, while the Corsairs fall to 5-14-2 overall and 5-9 in the conference.  The Rams are currently in a three way tie for the second spot in the MASCAC pending the outcome of the Plymouth State/Fitchburg State which is still being played.

Senior forward Daniel Miressi (Monroe, Conn.) and junior forward Ryan McDonald (Anchorage, AK) tallied a goal and an assist apiece for the Rams, while junior Brendan McCarron (Millbury, Mass.) and senior Tom Tracy (Wakefield, Mass.) tallied a goal apiece.

With his three points in the game Miressi surpassed the 100 point plateau for his career becoming the first Rams to achieve the feat since Roger LeBlanc in 2004.  Miressi now stands 11th all-time in FSU ice hockey scoring with 101 career points.

Dmitry Antipin put the hosts up 1-0 with a shorthanded tally just under two minutes into the game.  Tracy knotted the game at 1-1 midway through the first with his sixth of the year.

Antipin put the Corsairs back on top with the only goal of the second period as he converted on the power play for his sixth of the season.

McDonald tied the game for the Rams with just under five minutes remaining in the game. Miressi scored the game winner with 43 seconds remaining in the third and McCarron added an insurance marker at 19:35 to reach the final margin.  This is the second time this season that the Rams have defeated the Corsairs with a goal in the final minute of the third.

UMass Dartmouth held a slim 37-34 edge in shots for the game. The Rams were 0-for-4 on the power play, while the Corsairs converted on 1-of-4 with the man advantage. Senior Nick Cafrelli (San Jose, CA) recorded the victory between the pipes making 35 saves, while Ben Vandervies was tagged with the loss despite making 30 stops.
