Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State University ice hockey team opened the second half of their season this evening on the road suffering a 5-4 setback to Western New England University in non-conference action at Smead Arena.

The Rams are now 6-4-1 on the season, while the Golden Bears improve to 8-4.

Western New England received three points from Joe Budnick on a pair of goals and an assist, while Alan Martin chipped in with a pair of markers.  Brandon Stroud accounted for the Golden Bears other goal as he finished with two points on a goal and helper.

Budnick put the Golden Bears on top just 3:36 into the game, but Tracy followed 22 seconds later with his fourth of the season to tie the score.  Stroud and Martin would each tally their first of the game to put the hosts up 3-1 after one.

Miressi cut the deficit to one with his first of the game at 8:20 of the second and McCarron followed with a power play tally at 8:46 to tie the game at 3-all.

Martin and Miressi traded goals at 2:51 and 3:03 tying the game at 4-4 in the third, but Budnick found the back of the net with an unassisted tally at 6:06 to secure the victory.

The Rams outshot the Golden Bears 32-29 in the game and both teams converted on 1-of-5 power play opportunities.  Senior Nick Cafrelli (San Jose, Calif.) was tagged with the loss between the pipes for the Rams as he made 24 saves.

The Rams return to MASCAC action on Saturday when they take to the road to face Westfield State University at 5:35 p.m.
