Worcester, Mass. – The Framingham State University ice team closed the first half of the season this evening with a 2-1 victory over Assumption College in non-conference action at Buffone Rink.  The Rams have won three straight and head into the semester break at 6-3-1, while the Greyhounds are now 2-8-1.

Sophomore Melvin Nichols (Alexandria, VA) gave the Rams the lead for good just 2:50 into the contest as he converted off an assist from senior Bo Driscoll (Chelmsford, Mass.) for his first of the season.

Junior Ryan McDonald (Anchorage, AK) doubled the Rams advantage less than a minute into the second period as he tallied an unassisted marker and his fifth of the season.  McDonald's goal would prove to be the game-winner as the Greyhounds got on the scoreboard in the final minute of action.

Assumption held a 32-27 advantage in shots on goal for the game.  Freshman Alessio Muggli (Rueti, Switzerland) made his first collegiate start for the Rams between the pipes collecting the victory while making 31 saves.

The Rams are back in action on January 7th when they travel to Western New England for a non-conference match-up.
