Ice Hockey Toppled by New England College

Framingham, Mass. – The New England College men's ice hockey team received four points from sophomore Cheyne Matheson as the Pilgrims defeated the Framingham State University Rams 5-1 in non-conference action this evening at Framingham's Loring Arena.   

The Rams are now 3-3-1 on the year, while the Pilgrims improve their record to 6-2 on the season.

Matheson recorded a goal and three helpers for the visitors, while sophomore Kyle Manlow chipped in with three points on a goal and a pair of assists.  Garrett Brazzier added two points on a goal and an assist, while junior James O'Reilly chipped in with a pair of helpers.

Junior Ryan McDonald (Anchorage, AK) tallied the Rams lone goal late in the third period off assists from senior Bo Driscoll (Chelmsford, Mass.) and freshman Vaughn Guetens (Cheshire, Conn.).

New England College took advantage of eight Rams penalties in the game as they converted for four power play goals, while the Rams were just 1-of-6 with the man advantage.

The Pilgrims outshot the Rams 46-25 in the game and received 24 saves from freshman Brett Kilar who recorded his first victory of the season between the pipes.  Senior Nick Cafrelli (San Jose, CA) was tagged with the loss for the Rams despite making 41 stops.

The Rams are back in action on Tuesday, December 3rd when they host Stonehill College in a non-conference tilt beginning at 7:30 p.m., while the Pilgrims host St. Anslem College on December 6th at 7:30 p.m.
